Donkeys and mangroves

At Dahisar in survey 344 we now have a strange new development. Donkeys! Yes, you are right.
Last week residents were shocked to see two covered tempos drive into the road at the northern end of the said plot. Some people got out from the vehicles, unloaded their pots and pans, and started dragging out some animals.

Their plaintive braying made us realise that these are donkeys. The animals were forced out of the vehicle into the hot sun and led off deeper into the mangroves.
The donkeys are being used by hired labour to move the debris already dumped in the last month, with the aim of further blocking the ingress of sea water into the mangroves.
This is not only inhuman and cruelty to animals, but also a complete contempt of the collector’s orders prohibiting creation of new bund’s in mangrove land.
