Earnest Appeal

Our New Link Road Residents Forum has been actively fighting to save the mangroves and our environment on Link Road, Borivli and Dahisar since 2009. We request you to kindly go through a brief summary of our activities and extend your whole hearted monetary support for our cause, in cash or by cheque payable to New Link Road Residents Forum.

We have filed a PIL in the Mumbai High Court in early 2010 against illegal encroachments in CRZ at Ganpat Patil Nagar. The hearings are in progress and we have already received two favourable orders in this regard. We are demanding for a verdict wherein all illegal encroachments are removed and the mangroves are replanted in this entire stretch for the betterment of all. This would result in improved health, hygiene of the suburb and improve living conditions.

Dumping of debris [By Mr. Jayesh Shah of Ravi Group and his men] is threatening a 415 acre patch of mangroves in Survey 344, Dahisar, to the west of New Link Road [ Mithagar Road ]. They have the support of some local politicians and builders who serve their own vested interest. However we have been successful in obtaining a ‘Stop Work order’ on 21st May 2010 by the Suburban Collector, after intense and hectic lobbying with authorities at the highest level. Many of our Forum members have been threatened and intimated by the goons of the builder, but we are resolved to intervene in this matter in the High Court and Supreme Court if need be and determined to save the green belt.

The milk adulteration scam was busted by our Forum Members with help from the FDA in March 2010. This has safeguarded the health of one and all in Kandivili, Borivali and Dahisar. The culprits have been nabbed and externed for a period of two years. This was really tough but that was our goal and we achieved it.

As all these activities do come at a cost. We solicit your earnest monetary contribution, however big or small, to help us in this crusade of health, civic and environmental upliftment of Borivali and Dahisar. After all we are answerable to our own self and to our children for our actions.
