The BMC, after repeated complaints by citizens of New Link Road Forum, undertook a massive demolition action against approx 200 illegal commercial structures in Ganpat Patil Nagar, off New Link Road, Borivali to Dahisar. It was a welcome action by the R-North ward office of the BMC under the leadership of AMC Parag Masurkar. These structures had been illegally erected in CRZ-I and were a source of constant nuisance for the Residents of Borivali and Dahisar.

The shops included unlicense bakery / sweet meat shops, mobile shops, medical shops without license, general stores, garages, timber marts, hotels and restaurants without license.

About 25 illegal structures still remain which have obtained a stay order from Dindoshi Court. These stay orders are on the basis of forged documents. The BMC is moving forward to vacate the stay of these shops and the New Link Road Residents Forum is moving an Intervention Application to ensure this stay order is vacated. This is another victory for truth and justice for the common citizen of Mumbai. We thank the BMC for their action and look forward to clearing the entire stretch and reclaiming the mangroves for the benefit of all Mumbaikars.
