If there is one recurring message that is being given to Mumbaikars, it is this: Occupy any empty land after paying to the local goons, wait for a few years, and then get paid for vacating the land by the Government.

Or even better, get rival political parties to compete as to who can get them better deals on illegally occupying the land and denying tax-paying citizens the right to the original purpose of the land, be it a recreation ground or a market or an old age home. Who cares for the honest, law-abiding tax payers, after all?!

Promising pucca homes to people who have destroyed wetlands? The MLA of this area, Manishatai Chaudhari, and dozens of other people are clearly framed in this banner addressed at the so-called vote bank of illegal slums in Borivali West.

We believe India will change only when such people are given capital punishment, or worse.
