Our Forum has been sending complaints to all authorities since many years regarding Reclamation in Ganpat Patil Nagar.
Over the years we have also attached numerous proofs including satellite maps.

Further the Honorable Bombay High Court in PIL 10 of 2012 along with Chamber Summons (LODG.) No 362 of 2014 had directed the BMC to undertake demolitions of all structures that have come up after January 1, 2000. Further BMC has been directed to initiate action against erring Designated Officers in terms of Section 475B of the MMC Act.
Ganpat Patil Nagar in Dahisar West has been witnessing wide scale reclamation of mangroves and destruction of Wetlands on regular basis. The slums have now touched the creek and a part of the creek has been reclaimed too.
These slums are residential ,commercial and industrial in nature.
With the creek now entering the sea it is a serious environmental hazard as well as a big threat to national safety. With direct access to the sea it could be a transit route for drugs and explosives.
Several Court orders had been ignored and action not initiated to check the rapid growth of these slums.
Finally today the 31st of October, we saw the fruit of all these years of hard work.
Pursuant to the complaints, the Forest Department finally issued a notice.

Notices were issued to the culprits, and demolitions took place after giving these illegal encroachers and wetland destroyers 10 days to vacate.

Looking forward to a complete restoration of these wetlands and CRZ areas to their original pristine state.
