Fire in Mangroves

Today at 4 30 PM residents of New Link road were shocked to see thick smoke billowing out from the western edge of survey no. 344, a lush green stretch of mangroves in Dahisar West.

Attempted Land Grab

The Fire Brigade, the local Police from MHB, officials from the Tehsildars office, and alert residents converged on the site but could not access it as it was getting late.

A resident had taken some video footage of the fire, and the fire mysteriously died down as soon as the sirens of the Fire Brigade were heard.

We realised that this was in continuation of the activity and action taken place yesterday, and that these people are trying to encircle this vast stretch of mangroves from all sides.

We also have evidence showing that the wireless van from MHB Police station purposely misled the second Fire Brigade truck.

We are alert to any danger and will act immediately. We met the Asst Commisioner of Police and the DCP Zone 11 on 6th May 2010. The DCP has assured us of prompt action in this matter.

all means are being used by the builders lobby to get rid of the beautiful lush green mangroves.
sadly enough some public servants have connived with them for their own vested interest.
but the New Link Road Residents Forum will leave no stone unturned in the cause of protection of these
mangroves and environment. Come let us all join hands in this good cause.

At the drop of a hat when the Shiv Sena wants to do something they can get their people out on the streets and bring any part of Mumbai to a stand still. Why can’t you, Mr. Gosalkar, who is seeing the destruction of our precious mangroves in Dhisar and who has been doing the rounds to the offices of the various government officials and police stations and getting no results, ask your seniks to come out in large numbers in support of this cause. As the destructions of the mangroves is a serious threat to the health of Mumbai.

We need to get the media to showcase how corrupt is the entire system :-)…Its all interlinked and the best way is to expose them.
