Two held for supplying fake papers for Aadhaar cards

Hindustan Times 19th Jan 2013 MUMBAI: The MHB Colony police on Thursday arrested two people for their alleged involvement in a racket that supplied fake documents to help people get Aadhaar cards.
The accused identified as brothers Suresh Maharana, 31, and Sanjay Maharana, 28, both residents of slums in Dahisar ran a shop in the area. The police have seized 100 fake Aadhaar cards, 80 PAN cards, 13 birth certificates, 10 driving licences, 15 voter identity cards and ration cards from them.

An officer from MHB colony police station said, “We also found letterheads of local legislators.” The police also found a list with names of 150 customers who got fake documents from them. Sanjay used his computer skills to print documents resembling the original, which were then sold at a rate lower than the original.
Senior inspector, MHB colony police, Suresh Kilje said, “We suspect they were operating the scam for the past three years. Investigations are on to find out if anyone else was involved.” The accused have been charged for forging public documents and cheating.
